A Thought for Today
August 28, 2008
I once asked someone who was interested in politics if they thought a person in the political arena could make absolute truth the rule for their life? I really don't remember their answer, but I'm personally not sure it is possible. However, this does not apply only to politicians, it is a question for all people. It seems that a lie is a standard response for people in many situations. We call it a fib, or a little white lie, or stretching the truth. I don't even like lying to conceal a birthday party. We justify it in many ways as necessary for another's good, or for getting us out of a tough situation. But it is still a lie, and something God hates. "Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who deal faithfully are His delight." (Proverbs 12:22) Speaking the truth is a hard rule to keep in one's life, but it is a necessary one to strive for. It is one that is pleasing to God, and one that will not come back to hurt us at a later time.

A year's worth of Good Morning has now been put
into book form.
Subtitled “A Devotional for Encouragement and Thought,”
each message is short, and
intended to be
encouraging and thought provoking. |
The book is not necessarily intended to be read from beginning to
end, in order,
though you can use it one message per day for your devotions. You may
also flip it open
whenever you care to, and read the paragraph your eye falls upon. It is
hoped that some
of these messages are useful for your strength and encouragement in Christ.
Good Morning can be purchased at e-booktime.com. |
